BRAC to Basics: What would YOU do with 3300 Acres? The second in our series of public workshops, BRAC to Basics will be offered to three different groups the last week of September, and will conclude with the Reuse Review workshop the first week of October. (See below for schedule.) These workshops promise to be intensive, interactive planning opportunities where community members and our Planning Team will begin creating viable reuse concepts for the Base. For discussion purposes, we will consider two scenarios - one plan WITH an airport and one plan WITHOUT an airport. Be prepared to roll up your sleeves and get to work!
1. A general public workshop will be held all day Saturday, September 30 at the Brunswick High School, 116 Maquoit Street.
2. The same workshop described above will be presented to Brunswick High School's Service Learning classes on Friday, September 29. Input from the community's youth is vital as they will inherit the legacy of what we create today.
3. On Thursday, September 28, a modified version of this workshop will be presented to the Base Community for their input as well. Their "hands on" perspective will be an invaluable contribution to the whole planning process.
4. Reuse Review - Tuesday, October 3. We invite participants from all three workshops to come together at Brunswick High School to review the plan designs that were generated during all three workshops from the previous week. Prior to the Review, the consulting team will transform the workshop plans into a graphic format that will be presented at the Reuse Review.
I strongly urge everyone to reconvene with us that day to review your initial concepts of a reuse plan.
We are heading into a very busy and exciting fall. There is a lot of work to do. With your good ideas and active participation, we will design a master reuse plan that translates the community's vision into a tremendous opportunity for Brunswick, the Mid-coast region and the State as well.
I look forward to seeing you this fall!
